A Collaboration Between Eliana’s Light & Meditation Facilitators from the Art of Living Foundation
Overview
Meditation can be an invaluable tool in the mental health toolbox. It’s been proven to effect significant mental, physical, and emotional results when practiced, and is simple, and easy to do anytime, anywhere. The studies on meditation are vast, but some have specifically proven the benefits for both family caregivers and the seniors they take care of[1]. A UCLA study focused just on caregivers found that meditation improved cognitive function, and decreased cellular aging caused by stress by increasing enzyme function. 65% of participants in the study who practiced meditation showed at least a 50% improvement on a depression scale, and 52% showed at least a 50% improvement in mental health and cognitive functioning.
Program
To support the caregivers of DC, MD, and VA families with children who have complex medical conditions, Eliana’s light is collaborating with meditation facilitators from the Art of Living Foundation (www.artofliving.org), Pratibha and Muktesh Chhabra, to offer 10-15 minute online and phone-based meditation sessions. These sessions are designed to support the caregivers' mental and physical well-being so they can provide the best care possible for their loved ones. These guided meditation sessions are free of cost. Caregivers will coordinate their participation directly with Eliana's Light.
