Our Partners
Our community works to provide care to families in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region -- all of our efforts wouldn’t be possible without our thousands of volunteers and dozens of donors. We are tremendously grateful for their collaboration, partnership, and support.
Local In-Patient Medical Centers
Eliana’s Light collaborates with the Social Work, case management, Child Life, psychosocial, and community outreach teams at these medical centers:
Children's National Hospital, HSC Health System, Inova Children’s Hospital, Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, Medstar Washington Hospital Center, and University of Maryland Medical Center. We accept applications from families whose children receive care at one of these facilities, and also collaborate with these facilities for our community service programs.
Local Outpatient Medical Centers
Eliana’s Light collaborates with outpatient pediatric medical centers by collaborating with staff members (e.g. community outreach specialists, Medicaid providers, social workers, etc.) to let local families that receive care there know they can apply to receive support from Eliana’s Light.
The Children's Inn at NIH
Eliana's Light makes in-kind contributions to patients and families staying at The Children's Inn at NIH with the collaboration of our donors. We support the Inn’s efforts to respond to family support needs and "reduce the burden of illness through therapeutic, educational, and recreational programming".
Local Non-Profits
We’re grateful for local and regional non-profits with which we’re working closely to provide additional support for families. Examples include: the Lollipop Kids Foundation, Little Lobbyists, the Art of Living Foundation, the DC Association for Special Education, Advocates for Education and Justice (AJE) in DC, the Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC) in Virginia, and the Parent Place in Maryland, among others.
Local Businesses
We really appreciate the contributions that dozens of businesses have made to Eliana’s Light so we can collaborative support local families. Please click here to read a list on our “Gratitude” page. We’d like to spotlight the following local business that has been a regular partner:
Building Blocks Therapy
Eliana’s Light is thrilled to be a partner of Building Blocks Therapy in the Greater Washington, DC region, as they provide occupational, speech, and language services to children who need support in these areas. We regularly co-refer families and Building Blocks Therapy has kindly donated many supplies through Eliana’s Light to families that cannot afford them. They also regularly engage with their clients in volunteer-based activities that offer fun ways to do their therapy sessions.
Funders
Thank you to everyone who has made a financial or in-kind donation, which supports our programming and advocacy work. With your help, we can give needed financial support to help with rent, food, and utilities costs; Constellation Kits (i.e., personalized gift packages); learning events and downloadable resources for children and their caregivers; and ongoing accompaniment that supports physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. We also connect families to additional resources and advocate for an integrative, integrated and whole health approach to medical care. 100% of donations go to families and programming. Please consider donating or participating in our ongoing Re-Gift campaign today.
Volunteer Stars
Individuals and companies on Eliana's Light's team for the annual Races for Every Child: We remain so thankful to the dozens of individuals and companies that contribute to our annual team in this Race. Their donations and organizing efforts have led to more than $40,000 in donations to integrative care services at Children's National Hospital.
Individuals, organizations and companies that participated in our 5 Valentine's Day Cards for Kids & Cookies for Caregivers initiative (1996-2000) & our four virtual versions called “Spreading Kindness” (2021-2024): With the help of more than 5,000 volunteers (often more than 2,000 at a time), we’ve delivered more than 10,100 Valentine's Day cards to hospitalized children and 3,804 cookies to their caregivers at Children's National Hospital, Inova Children's Hospital, Johns Hopkins Children's Center, HSC's Pediatric Center, the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, University of Maryland Medical Center, and the Children's Inn at NIH between 2016 and 2020. Due to COVID, we adapted to partner hospitals’ new requirements. From 2000-2024, we collected dozens of positive, encouraging and supportive messages (e.g., cards, paintings, poems, quotes, etc.) each year to give to hospitalized children and their caregivers via their care providers.
Individuals, organizations and companies that participated in our eight “Give A Boost to Moms for Mother’s Day” and “Give A Boost to Dads for Father’s Day” community service programs: With the contributions of hundreds of volunteers, businesses, and organizations, we collaboratively gave more than 3,500 gift bags to moms who spent Mother's Day and dads who spent Father’s Day at one of the following medical centers in 2017-2020 to care for their hospitalized child: Children's National Hospital, HSC's Pediatric Center, Inova Children's Hospital, Johns Hopkins Children's Center, the Kennedy Krieger Institute, The Children's Inn at NIH, Medstar Georgetown University hospital, and Medstar Washington Hospital Center. The gift bags contained gift certificates, stress balls, a protein bar, and other items that help with stress relief. We had to pause this program due to Covid restrictions at hospitals in 2020-2022, and instead gave gift bags to caregivers at home. We resumed these service programs in 2023 at local hospitals.
We are always looking for volunteers who are interested in being part of a caring community that supports children with complex medical conditions and their family members. If you’re looking for volunteer opportunities, please visit our “Volunteer” page.
